ABOUT
OUR STORY

Tallgrass Employee-Owner Equity Fund is backed by Friesens Corporation, one of Canada’s most successful employee owned companies.
As one of Canada’s largest book printers, Friesens helps people share their BEST story with the world. Operating four award-winning businesses that serve publishers, schools, authors, and consumer brands across North America, Friesens opened its doors in 1907 and has been employee owned since the 1950s. Founded on the belief that the company exists to serve the needs of customers, employees, and the community, it was a natural next step to share this formula of success with others.
Today, Friesens Corporation is owned by an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and the Beneficiaries of the trust are the 600 employees that work for the company. The employees and leadership team have a lived experience with an EOT that is unique and extremely successful. Tallgrass is designed as an investment vehicle through which the Friesens formula for a successful EOT can be shared with other companies.
We’re ready to invest in your legacy for the benefit of your employees, your customers and your community!

THE IDEA
Tallgrass was founded by Friesens Corporation based on a simple premise…
Our business (and community) has succeeded in large part due to our employee-ownership model, mentality, purpose, and mission…
What if we expanded this mission to include…
- more businesses?
- more communities?
- more employees?
This resulted in the Tallgrass Mission
THE MISSION
To build a family of employee-owned companies, creating new wealth for thousands of people and benefitting dozens of communities while growing value for all stakeholders.
